Diplomatic Efforts Intensify

Before issuing the statement, the Prime Minister chaired a high-level meeting to formulate a strategy regarding potential US-Iran negotiations. Pakistan aims to prioritize both its own security and regional stability in these talks, while also consulting friendly countries.

Reports indicate that discussions have taken place between Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Iranian officials regarding hosting negotiations in Islamabad.

Senior journalist Mohammad Malick reported that key American figures—including J. D. Vance and Jared Kushner—may participate in the talks. On the Iranian side, prominent figures such as Saeed Jalili and parliamentary leaders are expected to be involved.

Turkey is also expected to play a mediating role alongside Pakistan.

US and Iran Positions

Donald Trump stated that discussions are now taking place with “the right people” in Iran and that both sides are interested in reaching a deal. He added that Iran has indicated it does not intend to develop nuclear weapons.

However, Iranian sources suggest that while messages have been exchanged through intermediaries, Tehran has not yet agreed to direct negotiations with the United States. Iran maintains that any agreement must go beyond a temporary ceasefire and address the root causes of the conflict.

Iran has also expressed willingness to provide guarantees regarding its nuclear program but insists on safeguarding its national interests.
